TATA GROUPS

Tata Groups
are well known even by kids. It’s the company which has excellent reputation.

“Tata Groups” had started in the year 1868 by JAMSHEDJI TATA in Mumbai, Maharastra,
India. This company had been spread into 80 countries. It is the most expanded
Company not only in the Country but in various parts of the world.  It deals with many different sectors like TATA
STEELS, TATA MOTORS, TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES, TATA TEA, TATA CHEMICALS,
TITAN, TAJ HOTELS and Etc. This company ranks 11th most reputable
company in the world among 600 global companies. It is awarded with Carnegie medal of Philanthropy.

JAMSHEDJI NUSSERWANJI
TATA

March 1839. He was born to a Parsi family in navsari, Gujrath, India. He laid
the foundation stone of the TATA GROUPS. He is regarded as the father of Indian
industry. He was the first business man of his Parsi Zoroastrian priests. He
joined his father in Bombay at the age of 14 and enrolled at the Elphinstone
College. He was married to Hirabai Daboo while he was still a student. He had
excellent talent in him and off course the role of luck help him to get him a
good position in the world. The hard work of Jamshedji Tata make tata groups as
the largest private sector firms in the world. Jamshedji Nusserwanji’s business
was handed over to Sir Dorab Tata, the eldest son of Jamsedji tata after the
death of jamsedji tata his eldest son became the chairman of the group in the
year 1904.

SIR DORAB TATABorn in 27 August 1859, He was the
eldest son of Jamsedji nusserwanji tata and the was successor of TATA GROUP
which was started by his father. He completed his primary education at the Proprietary
High school in Bombay. Before travelling to England in 1875, where he was
privately tutored. He entered Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge in 1877. He
even worked as a journalist for two years at the Bombay Gazette. He married to
Meherbai in the year 1897. He had played an excellent role in the progress of
his father’s business. He is also the founder of TATA STEELS, TATA POWERS, and
TATA CHEMICALS. Sir Dorab Tata had no children.


NOWROJI SAKLATWALAborn in the
year 1875 was the only non Tata Chairman of the Tata group from 1932 till his
sudden death due to heart attack. He was also a cricket player and represented
the Parsees against the Europeans in 1904.







RATAN NAVAL TATA born in 28 December 1937 is the present chairman of TATA SONS, and
therefore, Tata Group. He had born in Bombay, Bombay Presidency, and British
India. He resides at Colaba, Mumbai, India. He is an Indian and belongs to
Parsi Ethnicity. He got his education from Coronell University. He is also the
present chairman of major Tata Companies like TATA STEEL, TATA MOTORS, TATA
POWERS, TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES, TATA TEA, TATA CHEMICALS, The Indian Hotels
Company and Tata Teleservices.

When he returned to India in 1962 after turning down a job
with IBM on the advice of JRD, he was sent to Jamshedpur to work on the shop
floor at Tata Steel with other blue-collar employees, shoveling limestone and
handling the blast furnance. In 1971, he was appointed the Director of National
Radio and Electronics, which was in dire straits when he came on board with
losses of 40% and barely 2% share of the consumer electronic market. How ever he
when he just turned it around from 2% to 25% market share the Emergency was
declared. A weak economy and labour issues compounded the problem and Nelco was
quickly near collapse again. In 1981, JRD Tata stepped down as Tata Industries
chairman, naming Ratan as his successor. He was heavily Criticized for lacking experience
in running a company of the scale of TATA INDUSTRIES. In 1991, he was appointed
group chairman of the Tata Group. As a group chairman, he has been responsible
for converting “the corporate commonwealth” of different Tata affiliated
companies into a cohesive company. He also pushed the development of Indica and
the Nano. He is widely credited for the success of the Tata Group of companies,
especially after the liberalization of controls after the 1990s.

RATAN TATA had been honoured by Padma Bhushan in 2000 and
Padma Vibhushan in 2008, KBE in 2009. Tata is set to retire in December 2012 to
be succeeded by Cyrus Mistry, the 42 year old son of Pallonji Mistry and
managing director of Shapoorji Pallonji Group.

BAD TIMES OF TATA GROUP TATA Group had lots of progress and increments as time passed, but at the
same time the company faced even many troubles and controversies. Lets them
lighten them a few of them;
The Tata Tapes
controversy-
It is a
political scandal in India that was the culmination of a series of allegations
of anti national conduct levied by the then Chief Minister of Assam, Prafulla
Kumar Mahanta, against the TATAs their company Tata tea in particular. The
controversy erupted when journalist Ritu Sarin of the Indian Express broke a
story that involved the illegal tapping of the telephone calls of business tycoon.
Even the Nano car controversy and Ambani’s controversies are the recent
incidents which are well known to the majority.

                                        Cyrus Pallonji Mistry

Cyrus Pallonji Mistry born 4 July 1968 is the youngest son of
Irish construction magnate Pallonji Mistry. He has been appointed deputy
chairman and chairman-designate of TATA GROUP and its holding company Tata
Sons. This will make him the first non-Indian national to head the Indian
conglomerate. Mistry will work with the current chairman Ratan Tata for one year
and take over in December 2012. Apart from the Tata Group, he also serves as a director
on the board of several other companies.
